Our beloved, angel wife, mother, grandmother and great grandmother, Ramona May Hill Barker, 84, passed away at her home in Taylorsville, Utah on November 26, 2012. There is a vacant place in our hearts. We honor her life, we cherish her memory and we rejoice in the knowledge that she is free from pain.
She was born October 27, 1928 in the Cottonwood Maternity Home, Murray, Utah, to William Delbert Hill and Thelma May Carlisle. She met the "love of her life," Richard Alvin Barker at age 14. She graduated from Granite High School and attended BYU. Dick and Ramona were married on May 6, 1948 in the Salt Lake Temple. Ramona's testimony of the gospel of Jesus Christ was evident by the life of service and devotion that she rendered even through her later years of constant pain, which she endured without complaint and great faith. She found her greatest joy being together with her eternal companion and her family, as well as making our house a home. The gospel meant more to her than life itself. Shortly after Dick and Ramona were married they were called to serve separate LDS missions. She served in the Central Atlantic States from December 1948 until July 1950. They were reunited after two long years apart. They were blessed with five precious children and she found immense happiness in being a mother and grandmother. She continued to serve faithfully wherever called and supported her eternal companion in his many callings and assignments, which often included service together, which they cherished. She was blessed and humbled to serve on the Relief Society General Board for eight years and was then called to serve with her husband as they presided over the Missouri-Independence Mission. Soon after returning from Missouri, they again served side by side when called to supervise the sealing department in the Jordan River Temple where she served as secretary, then as an assistant matron to the temple and again in the sealing department. One of her greatest desires was to be in the temple as often as possible for the temple has been her life and has given her great joy, peace, comfort, and solace. She was blessed and grateful for many dear friendships-lifelong friends, devoted missionaries, and beloved temple workers. She was an elect lady, a woman of great faith and refinement who knew how to work hard, to serve tirelessly, and to sacrifice all. She truly devoted her mortal life in the service of her Savior and we are comforted in the knowledge that she has returned home to Him.
She is survived by her husband, Dick; children: Celeste (Jeff Merrill), Shyrlane (Robert Catmull), Melanie (Bradford Banks), and Bradley Richard (Sheri Wood); 11 grandchildren, 9 spouses; 21 great grand children with two on the way; brothers, Jack (Anne) Hill and Guy Hill. Preceded in death by infant son, Richard Flynn; parents; grandchildren, Casey Rae and Carl Thomas Catmull; and brother, Billy Hill.

Viewings will be held Friday, November 30, 2012, from 6-8 p.m. at McDougal Funeral Home, 4330 South Redwood Road, and Saturday morning from 9:30-10:30 a.m. prior to services at the church. Interment Taylorsville Cemetery.
