Elder Hugo Abrameit died June 11th peacefully after a short illness. He was born in Goliad County, July 6, 1921, to Otto and Alma Groll Abrameit; the youngest of six children, Elder grew up on his parent's farm. He served in the US Army during World War II, both in the Aleutian Islands and in Europe. Upon his return he married Della Mae Gisler and settled in Goliad. Elder worked in construction for his brother Albert's Construction Company.

He was a member of the VFW, a 50 year member American Legion, the Goliad Volunteer Fire Department, and the Zion Lutheran Church in Mission Valley.

He is preceded in death by his first wife, Della; and infant daughter, Arlene; two brothers, Hugo and Albert Abrameit; three sisters, Lena Dietzel, Loma Martin and Ellerine Preiss; son-in-law, Christopher (Steve) Elston.

He is survived by his wife, Mildred; three children, Glen Abrameit (Michelle), Evelyn Abrameit Baldwin, Gail Gilleland (Todd); step-daughters, Sherilyn Arnecke and Darla Sifford; three grandchildren, Jordan Baldwin-Gilbert (Glenn), Corporal Matthew Abrameit and Lisa Abrameit; numerous nieces and nephews. Pallbearers are Matthew Abrameit, Gary Abrameit, Mike Abrameit, Archie Abrameit, Kevin Preiss and Kelly Arnecke. Honorary pallbearers are Roma and Arliss Preiss, Doris and Gilbert Krueger, Beatrice and Wayne Fuchs, Marjorie and Gene Jolly. A special thanks to Roma Preiss, Accolade Hospice, Caring Senior Service, Detar Hospital, Five East Staff and Dr. John White for their concern and loving care. Visitation will be held on Wednesday, June 13, at Goliad Funeral Home from 6 to 8 p.m. In lieu of flowers, memorials can be made to The American Legion, Veterans of Foreign Wars, or the Goliad Volunteer Fire Department.
