Funeral services for Joe A.B. Helms, 62, 19 N. Adams, Phillips, are scheduled at 2:30 p.m. Friday from Phillips Methodist Church.

The pastor, the Rev. Rolle Davidson and the Rev. Shad Rue, pastor of First Baptist Church of Tulia will officiate.

Graveside rites will be conducted at Pampa Memory Gardens immediately following the funeral service, under the auspices of Adobe Walls Masonic Lodge, 1355. Burial will be directed by Ed Brown & Sons.

Helms was a retired Phillips Petroleum Company foreman, with a 32-year service record. He had resided in Phillips for 34 years, was a member of Phillips Methodist Church and the Adobe Walls Masonic Lodge 1355.

Helms died at 10 a.m. Wednesday in Mt. Ida, Ark., where he had been on an eight-day fishing trip. Cause of death was attributed to a heart attack.

Surviving are his wife, Lola; daughters, Miss Brenda Helms of Amarillo, Mrs. Mary Jo Underwood of Birmingham, Ala.; two stepdaughters, Mrs. Frank Barnett, Pampa, Mrs. Wesley Russell of Skellytown; two stepsons, Bill Cofer of Beaver, Okla., Donald Cofer of Kermit. Three sisters, three brothers and two grandchildren also survive.

All members of the Masonic Lodge are requested to report to the Temple on North Hedgecoke at 1 p.m. Friday to participate in the service.

Interment in Pampa Memory Gardens will be under the direction of Ed Brown and Sons Funeral Directors.

Casketbearers will be Bill Kruckenberg, Bill Hays, Pete Stockstill, Gene McGough, Hugh Anderson, Lefty Langley, Tom Montgomery and Bill Dickenson.

Helms had resided in Phillips for 34 ears, at 19 N. Adams Street. He was a retired refinery foreman for Phillips Petroleum Company, with a 32-year service record.
