Nellie's grave site had been lost for about 75 years. This cemetery is just five miles east of the Chickasaw White House, from the home her husband Douglas H Johnston was building before her untimely death. Douglas later became the Governor of the Chickasaw Nation for forty years. The couple had two children, one son ; Llewellyn Johnston 1842-1939 and a daughter that died just after birth, you will find her headstone next to her mother's in this cemetery.

Nellie's parents are Turner and Lucinda "Dyer" Bynum, they are also buried in this cemetery. Turner came on the Indian Removal with his Mother, Tennessee and siblings from Monroe, Mississippi. Turner met Lucinda Dyer in Tishomingo,Indian Territory, Chickasaw Nation.
Nellie had 9 sisters, Matilda Bynum 1843-1847, Lena Bynum 1845-1867, Martha Bynum 1847-1877, Mary Bynum 1847-1938, Sina Bynum 1849–1858, Elizabeth Bynum 1851–1886, Julia Ann Bynum 1853–1874, Susan Frances Bynum 1855–1856, and 1 brother Joseph Bynum 1854–1941 who later became a judge in the Chickasaw Nation.

Her Grandparents were John A Bynum 1788-1836, he died before the removal in Pontotoc District, Monroe, Mississippi and Tennessee R Colbert is buried here in this cemetery, she made the removal to Indian Territory along with their children.
