Bessie I. Welch, 91, Blue Rapids, died Friday, Nov. 18, 2005, at the Blue Valley Nursing Home, Blue Rapids.

A service was at 2 p.m. Monday, Nov. 21, at the United Methodist Church, Blue Rapids, with the Rev. Bob Whitaker officiating. Lois Andersen was organist and Vickie Whitaker sang "How Great Thou Art," "In the Garden" and "Hymn of Promise."

Pallbearers were Jim Osborne, Bob Feldhausen, Mike Feldhausen, Randy Feldhausen, Ben Weber and Harry Bellman. Burial was in Frankfort City Cemetery.

Bessie Welch was born April 15, 1914, at Hanover, the daughter of John and Martha Alkire Hidy.

She married James V. Welch March 2, 1932, at Marysville. She was a homemaker, a member of the United Methodist Church and the United Methodist Women. She was a member of the Union Pacific Old Timers, RSVP of Marysville and a 55-year member of the Rebekah Lodge.

Survivors include two daughters, Lova Feldhausen, Manhattan, and Roberta Osborne, Blue Rapids; 10 grandchildren; 15 great-grandchildren; and four great-great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by two daughters, Norma Welch and Sharon Ellis; five brothers, Issac Hidy, John Hidy, Roy Collins, Henry Davis and Claude Rochek; two sisters, Nellie Fairchild and Lillian Hicks; and one grandson, David Osborne.
