Cyril Gonyea was born 23 Oct 1849 in Erie to David and Euphrosine (Brancheau) Gonyea. He was baptized the following day at St. Joseph Catholic Church, Erie.
On 6 Sep 1870 he married Marie Josephine Parent at St Charles Catholic Church, Newport.
After their marriage they lived in Berlin Township, (So. Rockwood postal address where their first six children were born.
In 1880, shortly after the census, they moved to a home on Compeau Road in East Rockwood, (Brownstown township) in Wayne county, Rockwood postal address. Nine children were born at the East Rockwood home.
Cyril worked at John W. Strong's stave mill in South Rochwood for nearly 10 years until 1880 when he moved his family to the Compeau Road address in East Rockwood and took up farming.
In August of 1920 their home was struck by lightning. Cyril was severely burned in the resulting fire and on Aug 16 he died as a result of the burns.
