Mary Catharine Warner was born June 18, 1856, in Woodsboro District, Frederick County, Maryland, the daughter of Jacob and Mary Jane Rouzer Warner. In 1906, she married William H. Whitmore, son of George R. and Mary Newcomer Whitmore. Mary passed away on March 5, 1929, in Woodsboro District, and was buried the 9th in Haugh's Church Cemetery, Ladiesburg, Frederick County, Maryland.


Obituary for Mary Catharine Warner Whitmore from the Frederick News-Post of Thursday Morning, March 7, 1929:

"Mrs. William Whitmore. Mrs. Mary Catharine Whitmore, wife of William H. Whitmore, died Tuesday evening at her home, near Detour, after an illness of one year, aged 72 years, 8 months and 17 days. She leaves surviving, besides her husband, one brother, Lewis J. Warner, of Detour. Funeral Saturday, with short services at the home at 10 o'clock, and further services at Haugh's Church; interment in the adjoining cemetery. M. L. Creager and Son, undertakers."


From the Frederick News of Monday, March 18, 1929:

"WILL FILED. Mrs. Whitmore Remembers Lutheran Church Near Woodsboro. The will of the late Mrs. Mary Catherine Whitmore, of Detour, has been probated. To the husband, William H. Whitmore, are left the deceased's farm lands and buildings in Woodsboro District, with all personal property thereon, for his natural life, and after his death, the executors are directed to sell the real and personal property, the net proceeds therefrom being left as follows: The sum of $1,500 to Mt. Zion Evangelical Lutheran Church of Woodsboro District, for use of the cemetery of said church. To a brother, Lewis J. Warner, $3,000, or in event of his death before he receives the same, to his heirs-at-law. All the residue of the entire estate to Mt. Zion Evangelical Lutheran Church of Woodsboro District for use and benefit of said church and cemetery in the event the church corporation should move the church building from its present....MORE"
