Rita was one of three children in the family of James Leonard Boles (1913-1977) and Helen M. (Vanschaik) Boles (1915-2010).

Brumm, Rita Bowles [died] On Monday, March 31, 2008, Rita Brumm passed away at her home in Town & Country following complications from a bite from a brown recluse spider. Rita has been married to her husband, Eric J. Brumm for over 40 years. Eric is an insurance broker with the firm of A-H-M Financial of St. Louis.

Rita is also survived by her son, E. J., and her daughter, Ann, both of St. Louis.

Rita is a graduate of the University of Missouri School of Journalism. She has worked for several years as a real estate professional with the firm of Janet McAfee. In her eight year career with Janet McAfee, Rita was a consistent Top-Producing agent.

Before she entered the real estate profession, Rita contributed extensive time and expertise to local charitable institutions. She served as President of Outreach St. Louis, the charitable foundation of KMOX, KEZK, and Y98.

Previously, Rita was Director of Community Relations for the Humane Society of Missouri, and Director of Special Projects at UMSL.

Earlier she served on the boards of the Arts and Education Council of St. Louis, Central Institute for the Deaf, Junior League of St. Louis, and as President of the Friends of the St. Louis Science Museum.

Eric and Rita spent considerable time each year at their home in Nantucket, Massachusetts. She cherished her time on the island, and constantly entertained family and friends.

In additional to her husband and children, Rita is survived by her mother and stepfather, Helen and Ralph Bowman, of Marco Island, Florida, and her brothers, Bill and Lanny Bowles, both of St. Louis.

Services: A memorial service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Friday, April 4, at the Church of St. Michael and St. George, 6345 Forsyth Boulevard, Clayton. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Humane Society of Missouri, 1201 Macklind Avenue, St. Louis, Missouri 63110.
