Joseph Moore
The funeral of the late Joseph Moore took place on Tuesday afternoon from the home of his sister, Mrs. Chas. Petty. A large number paid the last tribute and old school mates from several outside points were present. The item below from the Winnipeg Free Press explains how he met his death: somebody careless with a switch.
Four brothers survive: Thos. and John, Wilson, N.Y.; James in California and William of Flesherton. Thos. and James could not be present. Deceased's sister, Mrs. Jas. Morice of Lancer, Sask., came east with the remains. Reaching Toronto Sunday a.m., she was met by her brother Will and motored home. The remains came Monday night.
Rev. J.E. Peters conducted appropriate funeral services, and interment was made in Maplewood cemetery where his parents lie. The pall bearers were Wm Moore, brother; Chas Petty, brother-in-law; Jas Lothian, D. Marshall, W. Carson, cousins; John Petty, nephew.

Jos. Moore, 50 years old, motorman, the oldest employee of the Winnipeg Electric Company in point of service, died at 6.10 a.m. to-day in the Winnipeg General Hospital from injuries received at 12.25 p.m. Tuesday, in a street car collision at the intersection of the St. Charles line and the spur to the St. Charles Country Club. He was hurled through the front window of the car by the force of the impact, his skull was fractured, inducing severe cerebral hemorrhage, and he died without regaining consciousness.
Dr. Cameron, Prov. Coroner, ordered the body to Gardiner's Undertaking rooms and will conduct an inquest at 8 p.m. Thursday. The cause of the accident is attributed to an open switch at a junction of the two lines. The car Mr. Moore was operating, struck the switch, ran up the spur, telescoped a car standing on the line to the Club, and carried it back 75 yards. No passengers were in either car. He was in the employ of the Winnipeg Electric Ry. 22 years and was a valued employee. He was switched over to the St. Charles run last March.
The floral offerings were many and beautiful and gave silent testimony as to regard the deceased was held in. They comprised: spray, Dr and Mrs. J.L. Moore and family; spray, J.E. Moore, Francis, Sask.; Pillow, Petty family; wreath, Winnipeg Street Ry. Men's Unit; wreath, Mrs. Jno. Marshall; wreath, Mr and Mrs McMahon and Bert; wreath, Kirkfield Residence; wreath, Winnipeg Electric Ry. Old Timers' Association; spray, Wm and Mrs Moore, Flesherton; spray, Mr and Mrs Payne, Kirkfield Park; spray, Mr and Mrs W Good and family; spray, Payne family; two wax flower wreaths, St. Charles people.
Visitors from a distance to the funeral were: Miss Marion Petty, Fergus; Mrs W. Duggan, Flint, Mich.; Mr and Mrs D McTavish, Flesherton; Mrs. Baird, Toronto (with whom deceased boarded for two years on first going to Winnipeg); Mr. Jas and Miss Belle Lothian, Dromore; Miss Mildred Leeson and sister, Mrs. Hooper, Mt. Forest; Mrs Thos Ryan, Normanby and Miss Etta Ryan, Ayton.
