Dropped Dead While At Work
Mrs. Carl Rexilius suddenly Stricken by Stroke of Apoplexy While Preparing the Noon Meal Monday – Leaves a Large Family
Mrs. Carl Rexilius, of this city, passed away at her home, 155 Sixth Street very suddenly Monday morning, shortly before the noon hour. Mrs. Rexilius was in the act of preparing the noonday meal, and was conversing with one of her children, when she suddenly fell over dead. So quickly was her passing that the deceased did not complete the sentence she was speaking, death being due to a stroke of apoplexy. Mrs. Rexilius had been ailing with a weak heart for some time, but was always up and about and apparently in the best of health.
Marie Kadolph was born in Berlin, Germany, on Aug. 19, 1866, and at the time of her death had reached the age of 55 years, 1 month and days. She grew to womanhood in Germany, and on Oct. 14, 1881, was united in marriage to Carl Rexilius. A few years later the family came to America, settling at Schielsingerville, where they resided for over 20 years. Mr. Rexilius departed this life in 1911, after which the remainder of the family moved to this city, and have lived here for the past ten years. The deceased leaves to mourn her sudden departure eight children, as follows; Paul, of this city; William, of Milwaukee; Frank, of Racine, and Carl, Frieda, Herman, Ervin and Marie, all at home, the latter being the youngest, 12 years of age. The children died in infancy. The following sister and brothers also survive; Mrs. Julius Kuhnke, of Milwaukee; Mrs. Fred Delling [Dehling], of Clintonville, Mrs. Carl Guske, of this city, and William Kadolph, formerly of this city, who is a present visiting in Germany.
The death of Mrs. Rexilius comes as a great shock to her children, whom she had to leave uncared for by a mother’s guiding hand, and alone in the world. She was a kind and well-liked resident of this city, a good sister and loving mother. The funeral was held yesterday (Thursday) at 2 o’clock in the afternoon, with services at the home. Interment took place in the Pleasant Hill cemetery. The Rev. Ad. von Rohr officiated at the last sad rites.
