She was born on April 2, 1830 in Jefferson County, the daughter of Gen. William and Elizabeth Mary Bellamy Bailey. After her education (Wesleyan Female College, Macon, GA, and Miss Haven's, New York City, whe married T.B. Lamar on April 25, 1850. During the the Civil War Mrs. Lamar and her children lived at The Columns, then owned by her father. She was a charter member of Anna Jackson Chapter UDC. She died on May 29, 1909 and was buried at Bellamy-Bailey Cemetery.
