Caroline was married by Minister of the Gospel J. G. Reiber on 6 October 1865 in Meigs County, Ohio to Nelson J. Watson. Nelson was born on 14 February 1841 in Ohio, son of Benjamin Watson and Delilah(–?–). In June 1860, Nelson lived with his parents and siblings- Livina, Thomas, Harriett, Henry, Caturah, Sarah, and Elizabeth- in Orange township, Meigs County. He was working as a farm laborer. Nelson was 21-years-old when he enlisted as a private in the United States Army on 13 August 1862 in Company B of the Ohio 116th Volunteer Infantry. He was wounded at Piedmont, Virginia on 5 June 1864 and was taken prisoner at Lynchburg, Virginia on 18 June 1864. He was incarcerated at Andersonville, Georgia, but escaped on 30 November 1864.
On 14 June 1870, Nelson and Caroline lived in the second ward of Pomeroy with their two daughters, Nancy and Bertha. Nelson worked as a laborer, and the family had $400 in real estate and $200 in personal property.
Caroline died on 29 March 1871. She is buried in Beech Grove Cemetery in Pomeroy..

Nelson applied for a Civil War disability pension and received it on 22 November 1879. On 11 June 1880, Nelson and Charity lived in Salisbury township, Meigs County with three children- Nancy, Bertha, and William. Nelson worked as a farmer while Charity kept house. The two girls had attended school in the previous year. On 1 June 1900, the couple and three sons- Leo, Arthur, and Clifford- lived on a farm in Orange township. Nelson died on 14 May 1916 in Meigs County.
