Alejo was born on June 30, 1917 to Pedro R. and Julianita (Luna) Montoya in Socorro, NM.
Alejo was a lifelong resident of Socorro, NM and a veteran of World War II.
Alejo was preceded in death by his wives, Albita (Apodaca) Montoya and Rosalie (Zamora) Montoya, daughter, Julie Myers and sister, Juanita García. Alejo is survived by his sons, Alex Montoya Jr. of Palm Springs, CA and Jimmy Montoya of Fort Collins, CO, daughters, Alice Zamora and Nancy Huerta, both of Albuquerque, NM, brothers, Joe Montoya of Florida, NM, Arsenio Montoya of Los Lunas, NM, Cardenio Montoya of Edgewood, NM and Albert Montoya of Albuquerque, NM, sisters, Lorencita Gonzáles of Florida, NM, Mary Lipinski of Albuquerque, NM and Angela Lucero of Socorro, NM, 12 grandchildren, 17 great-grandchildren and other relatives and friends.
Visitation will be held on Friday, September 18, 1998 from 4:00 p.m. until the prayer service held at 7:00 p.m. at Steadman-Hall Funeral Home, Socorro, NM. Funeral services will be held on Saturday, September 19, 1998 at 10:00 a.m., at the Harwood Methodist Church in Socorro, NM, with Rev. Judy Romero-Oak and Rev. Cullen Woods officiating. Interment will be in the Socorro Cemetery, Socorro, NM with Military Honors.
