Dorothy Savage Hewatt, 81, passed away Friday, November 9, 2012 with her family by her side at her home in Sugar Hill, GA following a brave fight with cancer. The wife of Reverend Ray Hewatt, Dorothy faithfully served God in pastoring Hope Road Church of God in Dunwoody. She was an ardent nurturer of all life while raising 14 children and tending gardens. She brought joy to all those she encountered through such treats as her famous fried apple pies. Mrs. Hewatt is survived by her children Raylene & David Hubbard of Cumming, JoAnn & Donald Chapman of Dawsonville, Jerry & Joyce Hewatt of Snellville, Cheryl Broome of Sugar Hill, Carol & Keith Pritchett of Canton, Keith & Debora Hewatt of Alto, Charlene Grimes of Ellijay, Tim & Toni Hewatt of Cumming, Jane & David Pritchett of Dawsonville, Nathan & Sherry Hewatt of Cumming, Jennifer & Jerry Blevins of Auburn, Michelle & Randy Bentley of Ellijay; 41 grandchildren; 44 great-grandchildren; sisters Margaret Floyd of Lawrenceville and Marjorie Scoggins of Lilburn; and brothers Charlie & Dixie Savage of Lawrenceville and Billy & Susan Savage of Grayson. Mrs. Hewatt was preceded in death by her husband of 56 years, Glenn Ray Hewatt; sons Mark Hewatt & Gary Hewatt; sons-in-law David Broome, Kevin Grimes, & Dan Chapman; parents Elijah & Lenora Savage; brothers Roy Savage, Paul Savage, Hubert Savage, Grady Savage, Jack Savage & Joe Savage; and sister Martha Still. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 pm on Tuesday, November 13, 2012 in the McDonald & Son Funeral Home chapel with interment at Sawnee View Memorial Gardens in Cumming, GA. Visitation will be from 3:00 pm until 9:00 pm on Sunday, November 11 and 10:00 am until 9:00 pm on Monday, November 12.
