Memorial services for Fred Campo, 56, of Ackworth, IA, who went home to heaven on Wednesday, October 17, 2012, at Mercy Medical Center in Des Moines, due to complications from surgery, will be held 11 a.m., Monday, October 22 at the First Assembly of God Church in Indianola.

Fred was born March 6, 1956 in Des Moines to John and Maria Campo. He graduated from Lincoln High School where he met his high school sweetheart and future wife, Leslie. Following high school he began his 40 year career as a diesel mechanic at O'Halloran International where he was known for hard work and dedication. As his family grew, Fred and Leslie purchased land outside Indianola and he began construction on the home and country living that would define his lifestyle and that of his family. All his children share treasured memories of fishing, hunting, horseback riding and everyday country adventures.

True to his Italian heritage, Fred had a passion for cooking and enjoyed spending time in the kitchen and around the dinner table with his family.

Fred was preceded in death by his parents John and Maria and his brother Sigifredo. He is survived by his wife, Leslie; children, David (Diane) Campo, Leah (Joseph) Butler, Lindsay (Andy Becker) Campo and Daniel Campo; grandsons, Grady Butler and Marcus Campo; brother, John Campo; and sisters, Bina Querrey and Linda Boyd.
