Kathleen M. Lannon of Lewes, DE, formerly of Washington DC, passed away peacefully on Friday, October 26, 2012, at her residence. Kathleen was affectionately known to her family as "Kassy." She was born in Cumberland, MD on January 21, 1949, daughter of the late Clifton M. and Agnes J. (Walsh) Marsh.

Mrs. Lannon attended Catholic institutions for most of her schooling. She received her Bachelor's degree from George Mason University, Fairfax, VA only after completing credits at Mount Aloysius College in Cresson, PA and Misericordia University in Dallas, PA. After completing her studies, she was employed by the Federal Government first with the National Archives, then as Senior Analyst with the General Services Administration, and she finished out her career as Director of Records Management for U.S. Department of State, all in Washington, DC. While with the State Department, Kathleen directed the worldwide records management program which required extensive international travel. Kathleen loved teaching her staff and her many trainees abroad on how to manage records for the present and future. The ability to witness so many foreign cultures was greatly appreciated by Kathleen; she always counted her blessings. She particularly loved her time in Geneva, over a year, working with the UNHCR UN High Commission for Refugees where she made lifelong friends. After retiring from the Federal Government, Kathleen was not one to be idle so she established Lannon Information Consulting which she operated for a number of years. Kathleen concluded her work years with the NCLIS (National Commission on Libraries and Information Science) retiring for the final time in 2007.

Soon after her final retirement, Kathleen and her beloved husband Peter moved to the beach full time in 2005. At the beach, Mrs. Lannon enjoyed reading, walking the beach, cooking, exploring different types of arts, and her precious little cat "Josie" who saved her life on several occasions. Kathleen will be remembered for her eclectic art collection, as the family historian, and as a classy lady with a quick wit and dry sense of humor. Kathleen's passion in life was love - she loved her family dearly, life in general and more than anyone or thing, she loved her husband Peter whom she adored. They particularly enjoyed all music genres to which they happily danced through their home. She was a fun-filled and loving wife, daughter, sister, aunt, and dear friend who will be sorely missed.

In addition to her parents, Mrs. Lannon was preceded in death by her husband Peter Francis Lannon (2010) and her father-in-law, Edwin R. Lannon. She is survived by her mother-in-law, Mary Lannon of Rockville, MD; her brother, Michael S. Marsh and wife Susan of Virginia Beach, VA; her sister, Bridget A. (Marsh) Brooks and husband Michael E. of Millsboro, DE; four brothers-in law: Paul Lannon and wife Susan of Falls Church, VA, George Lannon and wife Margarita of Hedgesville, WV, John Lannon and wife Debi of Oakton, VA, and Joe Lannon and wife Karen of College Park, MD; sister-in-law, Mary Ellen Lannon of Rockville, MD; nieces; and nephews: Neal Marsh, Nicholas Marsh, Christopher Pedigo, Caroline Lannon, Nicholas Lannon, Emily Lannon, Lucy Lannon and Ella Lannon; beloved cousins; several dear friends; and her cat Josie.

The family would like to extend a special note of thanks to Kathleen's wonderful neighbors who always helped and supported her, particularly during her most difficult times.

All services will be private. Arrangements are being handled by Parsell Funeral Homes & Crematorium, Lewes, DE.

In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorial contributions be made in Mrs. Lannon's name to Beebe Medical Foundation, Attn: Diabetes & Wound Care, 902 Savannah Road, Lewes, DE 19958.
