Ellender Lucille Jenkins Chambers, 77, of 7836 West S.R. 256, died Saturday, Nov. 13, 2004, at Jewish Hospital in Louisville, Ky.

She was born June 10, 1927, in Madison, the daughter of Orby and Goldie Coker Jenkins. She worked for many years as a seamstress and was formerly employed at the U.S. Shoe Corp.; at Meyers & Son; and as a cashier at the Jay-C Store. She was a member of the Kent Christian Church. She enjoyed sewing, traveling, photography, and spending time with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

Surviving are two sons, Robert "Danny" Bates of Hanover and William "David" Bates of Madison; one sister, Dorothy Allen of Elkhart; one brother, Raymond Jenkins of Fort Wayne; two granddaughters; and four great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her first husband, William Daniel Bates, June 30, 1972; her second husband, William Murray Jennings, Aug. 24, 1986; her third husband, Floyd Earl Chambers Sr., Dec. 10, 2001; two sisters, Thelma Royce and Opal Jones; and one brother, Richard O. Jenkins.

Services will be at 11 a.m. Tuesday at the Morgan-Webster-Nay Funeral Home, with burial in New Bethel Cemetery in Chelsea.

Friends may call from 5 to 8 p.m. today, and from 9 to 11 a.m. Tuesday, at the funeral home.
