Ruth Simmons, a homemaker and a resident of Bastrop, LA, passed away Wednesday November 7, 2012 in Mer Rouge, LA. She enjoyed working in her yard with her flowers,and in her garden. She was always canning her fruits and vegetables. She was a former Avon consultant and Avon "Queen of the year". She attended White Avenue Baptist Church where she was a member. In elementary school she won the State spelling bee for two years.
She is survived by her son, Donald Rickey Simmons and wife Carmen Colvin Simmons of San Antonio, TX; grandchildren, Dana Lee Simmons and Christina Simmons Barnhill and husband Mike; great grandchildren, James Joseph Simmons, Jeffrey Alexander Simmons, Victoria Leigh Simmons, and Matthew Garrison Simmons.
