"The funeral of Henry S. Losey was held in the Baptist church here on Wednesday of last week. A large concourse of relatives and friends was present, and it has been years since so many people gathered to pay their respects to the dead. Henry S. Losey was born in New Jersey April 16, 1833 [5], and was the the third son of Jacob and Eliza Losey, who had a family of seven children, of whom Nathan Lose, of Altay, William Losey, of Ovid, Mich., and George Losey, of Weston, survive. The deceased was twice married. His first wife was Miss Sarah Jane Putnam, by whom he had three children, Charles W. Losey, Mrs. Amelia Parker and Edward Losey. His present wife was formerly Miss Louise E Price. He was a man among men, kind-hearted, generous to a fault, kind to the poor and always ready to lend a helping hand to the sick. He was every day alike, pleasant, sociable, always ready with a smile to greet you with that hearty hand-shake which means so much, and to think this friend and neighbor should be shot down in cold blood by one whom he had befriended in every way for so many years was what aroused the indignation of the whole community. ..." "Pistol Shots Break Up Sunday Quiet of Schuyler County Village.
Tyrone Schuyler County, was wildly excited today. This morning Amos Forrester, aged about forty-seven, broke into and ransacked the residence of Henry Losey, who lived nearly across the road from him, but in Yates County. Forrester is a man who has been continued in Willard State Hospital for the Insane, and has long been feared in Tyrone. He always carried two or more loaded revolvers. When Losey discovered what had been done he at once went to Forrester's house and asked him why he had done it, and told him he must keep away from there or else give him the revolvers he carried. Forrester then shot Losey in the right breast just above the nipple, the ball passing entirely through his body and coming out of the back. The injured man was carried to his home and a surgeon summoned who found that the wound was a serious one..." (source: New York Herald-Tribune, 13 Nov 1893).
