Kathleen Howell Bingham, 89, born in Rugby England in 1907, daughter of the late Irwin White Howell and Kathleen Wattson Howell died at her home in Essex, Thursday (Feb. 22, 1996) of complications from emphysema. She was the widow of Dr. Charles T. Bingham, son of the late Hiram Bingham, former Senator of Connecticut and discoverer of Machu Picchu in Peru. She is survived by a son, C. Tiffany Bingham Jr. of Memphis, TN; her daughter, Heidi B. Stott of New York City and Vero Beach, FL; 11 grandchildren and 15 great-grandchildren. A daughter, Kathleen Fair DeVault died in 1976. During World War II, Mrs. Bingham served as a nurses's aid at The Hartford Hospital. She spent summers in Tenants Harbor, ME, where she entertained her children and grandchildren. Her interests included world traveling while searching for special items to be sold by the Women's Exchange in West Hartford. Funeral services will be Monday Feb. 26, 11 a.m., St. James Parish, 3 Mountain Road, Farmington.
