Funeral services for Frank Lewellan Sowles, 92, who died yesterday at the Klopf nursing home, were held at 2 p.m. today at the Stutz-Shifflett mortuary in Effingham, the Rev. J. E. Wales officiating. Pallbearers were Frank Stever, Charles Hegarty, George Bolinger, William Hinz, Oren Kelly and Otho Hargrove. Burial was in the Effingham cemetery.
He was born at Paw Paw, Ill., March7, 1867, a son of Gideon and Martha Tensar Sowles, and moved with his parents to a farm south of Effingham in 1871. he spent the rest of his life in the Effingham community. he married Miss Martha Grabel of Effingham.
He leaves three children, Mrs. Ruth Jeffries, Baldwin Park, Calif.; Mrs.Ester Sallee, Huntington Park, Calif., and Clyde Sowles of Nortonville; two grandchildren and two great grandchildren.
