Vester ("Bud'') Huffman, 604 Laura Street and former resident of Fornfelt, died at 7:50 Wednesday night at a hospital where he had been a patient 41 days. He had been in failing health a number of years. Final rites will be conducted Friday afternoon at 2 at the Bisplinghoff Funeral Home at Illmo by Rev. L. F. Bain. Interment will be In the Williams Cemetery at Perkins.
Surviving relatives are his wife Mrs. Sadie Huffman; three sons. Charles Huffman of Kankakee, Ill.; Jerry Huffman of Murphysboro, Ill.; and Larry Huffman at home; two daughters, Mrs. John Schott of Chaffee, and Mrs. Russell Obermann of Dutchtown, three brothers, Daniel Huffman, who Is with the Airforce at Leland, Miss., Henry Huffman, who is with the Army and stationed at Camp Rucker, Ala., and Paul Huffman of Murphysboro. Ill.; three sisters, Mrs. Frank Palmer of Biloxi. Miss., Mrs. Henry Cossiboom of Thebes, Ill., Mrs. Lindell Kennedy of Nile, Mich., and five grandchildren. A son, Robert, died when 10 years old.
Born July 13, 1912 at Bessville, he was a son of the late Daniel A. Huffman and Stella (Irvin) Huffman. On Nov. 7, 1932, he and Sadie Thomas were married. He was engaged in farming and trucking near Perkins following his marriage and later was employed as a brakeman and switchman for the Cotton Belt Railroad. He also worked for the Modern Roofing Co. of Fornfelt after his work with the railroad was terminated because of failing health. He and Mrs. Huffman moved to Cape in December 1956.
