PIONEER CITIZEN OF FREDONIA IS LAD TO REST SERVICES ARE CONDUCTED MONDAY FOR MRS. MATTIE ROBINSON HEATH
Mrs Mattie Robinson Heath, the last of Fredonias oldest citizens, died Sunday at the home of her daughter after an illness of several years. Services were conductor! from the Methodist church. Monday afternoon, the Rev. Bob Stallings, officiating, assisted by the Rev. Harold Spradley. of Aiexander City,
Mrs. Heath was the daughter of James Lewis Robinson and Felitia Turner Robinson, first settlers of Fredonia. Mrs. Robinson being one of the 13 charter members of the Fredonia Methodist church. Her father was the Rev Allen Turner, of Oxford one of the founders of Emory university. Mrs. Heaths paternal grandfather was the Rev. James Lewis Robinson of Butts county. Her husband was the late Wiliam Oscar Heath.
A woman of great strength of late William Oscar Heath. A woman of great strength character and of deep feeling. Mrs. Heath was active in the church and community life of Fredonia being regarded as one of the outstanding leaders in this section. She was for years president of the missionary society of her church. and active as an Eastern Star. Her home was known as the preachers home. Beloved by every man, woman and, child in Fredonia, the passing of "Mammy Heath", as she was affectionately known, has brought profound sorrow to the entire community and to a wide circle of friends.
She is survived by one son, Luther Zachery Heath, of Ridge Grove; and one daughter, Mrs. Stinson Adams, of Fredonia; 10 grandchildren, one great-grandchild, and one brother, George E. Robinson, of Eastman. Three brothers and three sisters preceded her to the grave. Pallbearers were Stinson Adams. Jr., Heath Adams, Luther Heath. Jr., Charles Heath, Eugene Robinson. George Robinson. Carl Owens, and Robert Hearth.
Burial was in the churchyard at Fredonia. Out-of-town relatives and friends attending the funeral were George Robinson and Eugene Robinson, of Eastman, Ga Mrs. Mary Cade Walker. Miss Vera Cade and Miss Erin Cade, Hurtsboro, Ala., Mrs. Willie Robinson Owens and Mr. Carl Owens, Auburn, Mr. and Mrs. Charles Warner Heath and Bob Heath, Mr. and Mrs. M. M. Jack-son, Gold Hill, Ala., Mr. and Mrs. Heath Adams, Greensboro, Ala., Mr. and Mrs. Stinson Adams, Jr and Stinson Adams III, Atlanta, Mrs. Sidney Robinson Melton and Mrs. Walter DeLoach, of West Point, the Rev. L. H. Spradley and Mrs. Spradley, Alexander City.
