Roger Allen Kniskern, 79, formerly of Peshtigo, WI passed away on Saturday, Oct. 13 after a battle with cancer, at the VA Hospital in Iron Mountain, Mi.

Born on Sept. 5, 1933 in the Town of Grover, he was the son of the late Lester and Adeline (Kohler) Kniskern. He served in the United States Army during the Korean War.

On July 14, 1956 he married the former Lois Marbes at St. Joseph Church in Marinette.
He was employed at Badger Paper Mill in Peshtigo as a machine operator in the wax room for over 40 years and moved to Crivitz after he retired. He enjoyed hunting, camping, working in the garage and riding his tractor. He also enjoyed putting together puzzles and playing cards with his wife, Lois. Roger was a loyal son, husband, father, brother, uncle and friend who was always willing to help anyone who needed a helping hand.

He is survived by his wife, Lois;
seven children: Allen (Diane) Kniskern, Nancy (Kevin Chaney) Ellison, Karen (Dean) Desterheft, Terri (Dennis) Schuchart, Wendy (Michael) Lock, John (Lori) Kniskern and Stephanie Kniskern;
two brothers: William Kniskern and Frederic (Kathie) Kniskern;
three sisters: Amy (Paul) Massio, Jane Devine and Judith (Randy) Ehlers;
14 grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren;
a sister-in-law, Helen Kniskern; a brother-in-law, Oscar Jandrey and many special nephews, nieces and close friends.

Along with his parents, he was preceded in death by three brothers: Franklyn, Robert and Donald; a sister Gloria Jandrey and a sister-in-law, Lucille Kniskern.

Visitation will be held on Monday, Oct. 22, at Berth & Rosenthal Funeral Home, Peshtigo from 9 a.m. until time of services at 11 a.m. There will be a procession to Riverside Cemetery and a fellowship to follow.
