Odessa- Bill Clemmer, 67, brother of five Big Country residents, died May 29 in a San Antonio hospital after a lengthy battle with cancer.
Services were held Saturday in Frank W. Wilson Funeral Directors Chapel with the Rev. Barry Owens officiating. Burial was in Sunset Memorial Gardens.
Mr. Clemmer was born in Hamby where he grew up.
Survivors include one daughter, Sherrye Garrison of Odessa; one son, Bill Clemmer of Austin; six brothers, Elvie Clemmer of Monahans, Ernest Clemmer, Floyd Clemmer and Cloice Clemmer, all of Abilene R.E. Clemmer Jr. of Merkel and Don Clemmer of Andrews; two sisters, Nita Boyd of Rosenberg and Jo Gabbard of Abilene; and three grandchildren.
Bill joined the US Army between 1946 and 1947. On 6 Aug 1946 - El Paso, Tx: Camp Stoneman CA: Ft. Ord, CA to Yokahama, Japan. Medic attached to 5th Calvary; TSgt. - 29 Nov 1947.
On July 27, 1951 he married Kathryn Beth Blanchard in Caps, Texas. Two children were born to this union: Sherrye and Billy Todd Clemmer. Kathryn passed on January 15, 1988. On March 14, 1993 he married Harriet Lanell Smith in Ector, Texas. He and Harriet divorced on April 7, 1994 in Ector, Texas.
