FLATONIA, Dec. 28 - Funeral services for the Rev. Alfonse Raska, 66, parish priest of the Assumption of the Blessed Virgin Church at Praha, who died in the Shiner Hospital, where he had been taken after a heart attack, will be held at 10 a.m. Wednesday in Praha with Revs. Joseph Kopp and J. J. Hannacek officiating.
The Rev. Raska was born in Czechoslovakia, coming to Texas in early manhood. He studied for the priesthood in the seminaries of St. Mary's, La Porte, and St. Anthony Oblates in San Antonio. He was ordained by Bishop John Anthony Forrest at Shiner* in 1909. He had served in Praha since 1945.
Survivors are one brother and two sisters.
*He was actually ordained in San Antonio 0n 20 June 1909 but celebrated his first Mass in Shiner on 24 June 1909.
