Kenneth W Ackley, 72, Route 4, Hayward, WI died Sunday, July 21, at the Hayward Nursing Home.

Kenneth Wilson was born May 27, 1913, in Winter, the son of Waite and Fannie Tucker Ackley. He grew up in Winter and graduated from Winter High School. Kenneth worked in the logging industry and was a professional guide, attending sports shows for more than 40 years. He was the former operator of the Trading Post Store and Tavern near Hayward.

He married Anne Wende Jan. 10, 1933, in Superior. Kenneth was an assessor for the Town of Hunter for 43 years and fire warden for more than 40 years. He was an avid baseball player and fan. Kenneth helped start Guide Service, Inc., and was a former president of that local association. He was a member of the First Lutheran Church in Hayward and a former member of the Hayward Moose Lodge.

Survivors include his Wife, Anne; five sons, Floyd, of Loretta, Fritz, of Hayward, Bob, of Atlanta, GA, Jim, of Merrill, and Bruce, of Colorado Springs. CO; three daughters, Pat Martina, of Bensenville, IL, Jean Barber, of Hayward, and Joan Boettcher, of Middleton; 26 grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.

Kenneth was preceded in death by three brothers, Chick, Floyd, and Shannon, and a sister, Vera O'Shaughnessy.

The funeral service will be held at 2 p.m. Thursday, July 25, at First Lutheran Church in Hayward, with Pastor Karen Johnson officiating. Music for the service will be provided by Darlene Johnson, organist, and Betty Landgraf, soloist.

Burial will be in Greenwood Cemetery, Hayward. Visitation will be from 5 to 9 p.m. Wednesday at the Anderson-Nathan Funeral Home, Hayward.

Serving as casket bearers will be Leonard Didesch, Anthony Bralick, Harold Egge, Russel Slimington, Ted Dzialo, and William Wright. Honorary bearers will be Rolland Brinkman, Nels Johnson. and Jesse Ross.
