Mrs. Jacob Wolter Dies Sunday At Daughter's Home
Mrs. Jacob Wolter, 86, died Sunday night at the home of her daughter, Mrs.
August Mahnke, South 15th street, with whom she resided the past 18 months.
Death was due to a heart attack.
Funeral services will be held Wednesday at 1:30 p.m. from the Leschke funeral
home and at two o'clock from the First German Evangelical Lutheran church. The
Rev. Edward Zell will officiate in the absence of the Rev. L. H. Koeninger.
Interment will be in Evergreen cemetery.
Born in Germany
Mrs. Wolter, whose maiden name was Augusta Wilde, was born in Germany in 1850
and at the age of six accompanied her parents to this county where they located
on a farm. In 1867 she married Jacob Wolter. They resided on a farm in Newton
until 1912 when they moved to this city. Since Mr. Wolter's death in 1923, Mrs.
Wolter has been residing with her children.
Survivors are three daughters, Mrs. Mahnke and Mrs. Ottmar Zapfe, both of this
city, Mrs. George Barthels, Mishicot; two brothers, Fred, Mishicot, and Henry,
city; two sisters, Mrs. Carl Ridderbush, Wausau, and Mrs. John Carlson,
Birnamwood, Wis.; 10 grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren. A son, John,
died in 1918.
The body may be viewed at the Leschke funeral home.
