Dorothy M. Davis, 74, formerly of 1751 Scotland Ave., died-at 11:05 a.m. Saturday, Oct. 8, 1994, in Bethany Village, Mechanicsburg, where she resided for four months. Born June 7, 1920, in Donaldson, she was a daughter of the late Harold and Agnes Betz Rose.

She was a member of First Lutheran Church and its Women's Circle. A 1937 graduate of Donaldson High School, she received a degree in elementary education in 1967 from Shippensburg University. For 17 years, she was a second-grade teacher in Chambersburg Area School District at the former Franklin Street Elementary School.

She also was a member of the local, state and national Education associations; the ladies auxiliaries of Charles M. Nitterhouse Post 1599 Veterans of Foreign Wars and BPO Elks Lodge 600; Chambersburg Area Hospital Auxiliary; and Pennsylvania Association of Retired Teachers.

John William Davis, her husband, died on June 20, 1992.

Surviving are a daughter, Mildred L. (Mrs. Jack) Shatzer of Mechanicsburg; a son, John C. of Columbia, Md.; five grandsons; five grand-granddaughters; and a sister, Mildred Jones of Donaldson.

Services will be held at 10 a.m. Wednesday in First Lutheran Church of Chambersburg. The Rev. Dr. Charles M. Heaps will officiate. Burial will follow at 1 p.m. in Donaldson Cemetery.

Visitation will be from 7 to 9 p.m. Tuesday in Thomas L. Geisel Funeral Home Inc. and one hour prior to the service Wednesday in the church. Memorial contributions may be made to First Lutheran Church, 43 W. Washington St., or to American Cancer Society, 452 E. King St. both Chambersburg 17201.
