Fern Elizabeth Boughton married on Sunday, 9 Dec 1945 in Bend, Deschutes, Oregon Robert 'Bob' Harry Lange.

Fern was born in Clarkston, Washington to parents Robert Newell and Dollie Julia Magaw Boughton and joined brother, John Robert Boughton who lived on a farm in nearby Asotin. When Fern was five years old her family moved to the Oregon Coast at North Bend where she lived for several years. The Boughton's then moved to Halsey, Oregon where Fern attended High School. She played basketball on the varsity team and also loved to ride horses.

She attended Portland Bible College in Portland, Oregon for two years and later moved to Bend, Oregon where her parents resided. Fern was employed with the Oregon Box Factory and the US Forest Service in Bend and attended the Christian and Missionary Alliance Church.

Fern met and married Robert Harry Lange who had served with the US Army Air Force in the Pacific Front during the World War II. She and Bob were married, December 9, 1945 in Bend, OR. The Langes made their home in Bend until 1965 when they moved to Riddle, OR.

Fern was an active member of the Riddle Assembly of God Church. Fern was employed at Canyonville Bible Academy and Forest Glen in Canyonville and then at Rose Haven in Roseburg. She also worked with Bob at the Roseburg Rescue Mission.

In 1978 the Langes moved to Sutherlin, Oregon where Fern worked as Site Manager at the Sutherlin Senior Center. She helped establish the Sutherlin Oakland Emergency Food Pantry where she volunteered following her retirement. She and Bob worked side by side at Blessed Hope Mission. She was an active member of the New Hope Fellowship Church in Sutherlin. She served for many years as a key leader of the Sutherlin Chapter of Women's Aglow Fellowship. She was a past member of the Sutherlin, Oakland and Elkton, Advisory Committee.

Fern graduated from her earthly home at Applegate Place in Sutherlin to her heavenly home Monday, November 14, 2011. She was preceded in death by parents, Robert and Dollie Boughton, brother John Boughton, daughter Beverly Lange, baby daughter Lange, son Wayne Lange, and several grandchildren.

She is survived by her husband Robert Lange of Roseburg, OR; daughter Myrna F. Menges and husband Bill of New Mexico; son Gordon Lange and wife Bonnie of Colorado; daughter Martha Aller and husband Nathan of Oregon; daughter Esther Kenney and husband Phil of New Mexico and numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren in Alaska, Arizona, Colorado, Georgia, Oklahoma, Oregon, Washington and Mexico as well as many nieces and nephews.

Sutherlin Chapel of the Roses is in charge of funeral arrangements. Viewing for family and friends will be held from 9-11 a.m., Monday November 21, 2011 at Sutherlin Chapel of the Roses, 311 E. Central Ave, Sutherlin, Oregon.

Celebration of life Service will be 1 p.m., Monday November 21, 2011 at New Hope Fellowship, 764 E Central Ave, Sutherlin OR followed by a graveside service and reception. Pastor David Bates officiating.
