Benjamin crossed the Delaware with General George Washington on December 26,1776,and was present at the attack on Trenton.Also Princeton Jan.03,1777 ,and survived the VERY HARD WINTER AT VALLEY FORGE.He was personally discharged by General George Washington .
"It appears that Benjamin Bonsall while residing in Philadelphia PA. enlisted on December 1776 , in The Third Regiment, First Battalion, Pennsylvania Militia, as a private in Captain Francis Delaneys' Company, Colonel Cadwalader, and Colonel Nixon Pennsylvania Regiments and was present at the battles of Trenton and Princeton.He then enlisted the later part of 1777 and served two 2 months and fifteen days as a private in Captain Benjamin Horner's' Pennsylvania Company.Benjamins' statements that are handwritten are VERY hard to read 3 pages all in ink and small print."
Pension application was executed and filed by sworn statements on January 6,1834 while residing in Greenwood Township, Perry County Pennsylvania aged 75 years.a copy of his own signature is there.
