A. C. (Art) Decker, Jr.

SHREVEPORT, LA - Longtime Shreveport resident Arthur Clay Decker, Jr., died Feb. 23, 2011, at 99 years of age.

He was born in Grow, TX, Dec. 15, 1911, to Arthur and Mattie Decker. A. C. grew up in west Texas, attended Paducah, TX, schools and graduated from Texas A&M. He was an Air Force Captain in WWII. After the war, he owned flight training schools in the Shreveport area. He had a farm near Waskom, Texas, and enjoyed that rural environment. A. C. was the owner of Life Underwriters, an insurance business in Shreveport.

He is survived by his wife, Billie Scott Decker; two children by previous marriages, Leah Decker Dunaway, of Wimberley, TX, and Charles Decker; three grandchildren, Caroline Robinson, Andrea Kee, Lisa Decker; five great grandchildren, Rachel, Connor, Sarah, Hayden, Rebecca. He is also survived by two brothers, Charles Decker of Wichita, KS, and Ottis Decker of Muskogee, OK. A. C. leaves behind many nieces and nephews who remember him fondly. His parents, Arthur and Mattie Decker, brother John Decker and sisters, Monetta Decker Lynch and Captoila Decker Schoen, preceded him in death. A. C. is buried in Paducah, Texas.
