MONMOUTH — Ralph Herman Olson Sr.. 72, of Oquawka died Sunday at 1:30 p.m. at the Monmouth Hospital where had been a patient since Wednesday. He had been in failing health the past two years. Funeral services will be held Tuesday at 2:30 p.m. at the Oquawka Presbyterian Church with the Rev. A. C. Nickerson in charge. Friends may call the Lugg Memorial Chapel. Burial will be in the Oquawka Cemetery. Mr. Olson was born Feb. 24. 1881, in Knox County, the son of Andrew and Ester Olson. He married Miss Flora Pearl Peterson of Olena Jan. 1. 1907. They farmed in Henderson County until 1923 when they moved to Oquawka. He was a fisherman until two years ago when his health failed. He was a member of the Baptist Church. Survivors include his wife and five daughters, Mrs. Lena Calhoun. of Hartford. Conn., Mrs. Clayton Chapin of Oquawka, Mrs. Madeline Milligan of Galesburg, and Mrs. Marie Brown of Boulder, Colo., and Cathleen Olson of Oquawka, and six sons. Marion, Gerald, Hal, Ralph Jr. and Nile, all of Oquawka, and Cecil of Burlington. Other survivors are a sister, Mrs. Daisy Ruberg of Oquawka; two brothers, Louis of New London, and George of Fort Madison, and 14 grandchildren.
