Almont Henry, 88, of Cherry tree RD 2, died Tuesday, Feb. 3,1998, at Pavelko's Personal Care Home in Cherry Tree RD 2.
Born in Montgomery Township, Indiana County, on Nov. 14,1909, he was the son of John C. and Florence J. Rager Henry.
Mr. Henry was employed as a design engineer for the Lockheed Company in Los Angeles; Kimball Associates of Ebensburg; Penn DOT, where he worked on the Pennsylvania Turnpike; Piper Aircraft in Lock Haven and Union Switch and Signal in Swissvale.
Almont was an extra in several movies shot in Santa Fe, N.M., along with his twin brother, Delmont. He was a good artist with pencil sketches of movie stars and had several of his works published.
In 1940, he rode a bicycle from Pennsylvania to California in 31 days, accompanied by his brother Alvin.
Surviving are his brothers, Alvin and Frank Henry, both of Cherry Tree RD 2; Sidney Henry, Marion Center RD 1; and Murray Henry, Cherry Tree RD 2, and a number of nieces and nephews. .
He, was preceded in death by his parents; three brothers, John, James and Delmont; and two sisters, Beulah Orr and Alice Baker.
Friends will be received from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. oh Thursday at the Rairigh Funeral Home in Hillsdale where services will be held at 11 a.m. on Friday.
The Rev. Edwin E. Nichoi and Elder Thomas D. Henry will officiate and interment will be in the
Thompson Cemetery in Hillsdale.
