Married Phillips Whiting Wheeler May 2,1925, and moved into their beautiful 80 acre farm (which they named "Birchwold Farm"), in Sheldonville, Mass. All four of her children were born in that farmhouse.
Children: Phyllis, Anne, Gilbert, and Harold.
Evangeline was a Presbyterian minister's daughter with an independent streak. She insisted that her wedding vows be changed from love,honor and obey...to love, honor and cherish.
She was a talented artist, attending Worcester Museum Art School, and also the School of Fine Arts and Crafts in Boston -- she contributed to making the original plaster version of the life sized bronze statue of a Scottish soldier which was later sent to Hector, Nova Scotia.
She created and sold many lovely clay figurines, dishes, mugs and paintings.
Her art work was put on display in many area exhibitions.
She also bred, raised, showed and sold Irish Water Spaniels and American Cocker Spaniels for many years.
Having a special affinity for children, she was a kind, patient and loving mother and grandmother. She was also active as a 4-H leader and Sunday school teacher.
She loved to travel, and enjoyed visiting Phyllis and Gilbert when they lived in Hawaii, Colorado and Arizona.
Evangeline died in the hospital, suddenly and unexpectedly of a heart attack, approx a week after having surgery to replace her knee, which had been injured in a skiing accident in her youth.
She left many grandchildren and great-grand children.
We all miss her greatly.
