"Rev Edward Eells, 78, former pastor of the Vernon and Stafford Congregational churches, died Tuesday afternoon in Hartford after a short illness. A descendant of a long line of ministers, he held pastorates in many New England churches and in recent years he was engaged in broadcasting on religious subjects at a radio station in Brooklyn, NY.
He was the author of several books and was an organizer of Three Score and Ten Clubs in Brooklyn for elderly people.
He leaves two sons, Rev. Earnest Eells of East Hampton, L.I. and Dr. Hastings Eells of Delaware, Ohio; three daughters, Mrs. Truth Paisley of Vernon, Mrs. Phillips Wheeler of Wrentham, Mass., and Mrs. William Broadley of Walpole, Mass., and nine grandchidren.
The funeral will be held Friday at 2 p.m. in Hope Cemetery Chapel, Worcester, Mass. where Rev. Shepherd Knapp, pastor of the Center Congregational Church, Worcester, will officiate. Burial will be in Hope Cemetery."
