Caldonia Pendleton married Richard Leslie Akin b.17 Oct 1868 in Burkesville, Cumberland Co., KY & d.7 Oct 1932 in Joplin, Jasper Co., MO. They were married on 18 Aug 1889 in Aurora, Lawrence Co., MO. She was the first spouse of Richard L. Akin.
I believe Caldonia must have died about 1894 as I have a picture (very damaged) of her, with Richard Leslie, and my grandfather, Carl Lee b. May 1891, who appears to be about 3 years old. Since Richard Leslie Akin remarried in Mar 1895, I can only assume she must have died. I have not been able to locate a gravesite, but I would suspect, if it existed, it would be at the Dover Baptist Church Cemetery in McKinley, Lawrence County where many of the other Pendletons are buried.
Regarding Caldonia's name. According to an employment application made for the Frisco Railroad on 10 Apr 1941, my Grandfather, Carl Lee Akin, her only child, listed her name as "Donia", short for Caldonia, not Caldona or Dona.
They had one child:
1. Carl Lee Akin b.18 May 1891 in Aurora, Lawrence Co., MO & d. 23 Jul 1942 in Neosho, Newton Co., MO.
Married: Blanche Ethel Crowell, b.25 May 1892 in Aurora, MO, & d. 30 Jul 1967 in Solano, CA, on 1 Mar 1915 in Carl Junction, Jasper Co., MO.
Married: Tina M. Greer, b.12 Feb 1892 in Monett, Barry Co., MO & d.19 Aug 1933 in Sapulpa, Creek Co., OK., on 17 Dec 1923 in Mt. Vernon, Lawrence Co., MO.
Married: Bertha Francis (No further Information at this time)
