Ladorna was born April 13, 1836, in Birdsall, Allegany Co., New York, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Glover. She died Dec. 24, 1922, in Sumner Twp., Barron Co., Wis., and was buried beside her husband in Lake View Cemetery. The family plot contains a headstone inscribed "Wilson Miles Alford" in honor of the last names of Ladorna's three husbands.
On Nov. 2, 1893, Ladorna married Milo C. Alford at Sumner, Wis. Milo was born Nov. 13, 1817, in Labrouf Twp., Erie Co., Penn., died Oct. 6, 1896, in Sioska, Barron Co., Wis., and was buried in Lakeview Cemetery. His military style gravestone there is inscribed "Milo Alford Co. A. 2nd Wis. Inf." No children.

Her second marriage was Dec. 25, 1865, to James B. Miles, at Sumner, Wis. He was born Jan. 24, 1825, died Dec. 22, 1883, and was buried in Lake View Cemetery.

Mrs. M. C. Alfred, one of Barron County's oldest pioneer women peacefully passed away at the home of her son, A. M. Wilson in the town of Sumner on Christmas Eve, after having been confined to her bed for about one and one half years.
Mrs. Alfred's maiden name was Ledorna C. Glover. She was born in Birdsail, Alleghany County, New York, on the 13th day of April, 1836, and moved with her parents to Milwaukee, Wisconsin, during the year of 1843, where she grew to womanhood. She was married to Oran M. Wilson in the year 1852 in Waukesha county, and later lived in Chippewa County. Mr. Wilson died in defense of his country during the Civil War leaving a widow and four children surviving him.
In 1866 she married James Miles of Wanewoc, Wisconsin, and October 1877 they moved to Northern Wisconsin locating on a homestead near the village of Sumner. There were no railroads, and no city nearer than Chippewa Falls. All food supplies, except some flour which was ground in a small mill at Sumner were brought in covered wagons from Chippewa.
Six children were born to this union, three of whom survive their parents. They are Andy Miles of Weyerhauser and Almon and Archie Miles of Earl, Wisconsin. Three daughters died in their infancy at Auburndale.
In 1893 she was married to Milo C. Alfred at Sumner, and she cared for him until his death four years later, and has been residing since at the home of her son Albert.
Five sons and one daughter, Mrs. T. H. Apker are left to mourn the loss of a good mother and fine Christian woman. Among her descendants also are 35 grand children, 11 great grand children and three great great grand children.
Funeral services were held at Sumner on Monday, the Rev. E.A. Wolfe of the Free Methodist church officiated.
Interment was made at the Lake View Cemetery at Chetek.
A large number of friends and neighbors attended the funeral to pay their last respects to one who will always linger in their memories as a bright and cheerful light to guide others to a higher sphere. She was a strong and sturdy character, and one who always looked for what was the best in everything, and was always willing to help those who were in need.
