He fought with the Ninth Virginia Cavalry, Company C. Enlisting 25 October 1861 at Shaw's Mount. He enlisted for one year, but when that came he accepted a fifty dollar bounty and committed for two more years. He was wounded at the Battle of Brandy Station on 11 October 1863. The wound kept him out of action until at least February of 1864, when he was home. He was present for duty by May of 1864. A Clerk.
