Mrs Flora Haynie Jett passed away at the him in Reedville, VA. Dec. 11, 1928, at the age of 81. Mrs. Jett was born at "Pleasant View" Northumberland County, VA. and was the daughter of Capt. Joseph C. Haynie and Laurie Alverta Sutter. She was educated at Col. Addison Hall's select boarding school for young ladies, at Kilmarnock, VA. where she attended school during the War Between the States. Whe was married soon after the close of the War to Mr. Thomas W. Jett, an honored Confederate Veteran of Company C, 9th Virginia Cavalry. Everything was lost by fire twice during her married life, The old home "Edgewood", on Taskmaskers Creek, was Burned in Aug. 1912. Mrs. Jett was an accomplished woman of bright mind and exceptional culture and refinement. She was a great reader, was well informed, was interested in current events, and retained her wonderful mental faculties until the very last. Her remains were interred by the side of her husband in Roseland Cemetery, Dec. 12, 1928. She leaves a daughter and four sons, Miss Eva Jett, Messrs T. H. , J. C., W. B., and F. C. Jett of Reedville. In addition to her own children, she leaves a devoted nephew, Mr. L. S. Morrison of Reedville, whom she raised as her own, also two brothers, and a sister, Messrs, B. B. and F. P. Haynie and Mrs. J. H. Crowther.
