Services will be at 2 p.m. Friday at Meyer Bros. Colonial Chapel in Sioux City. The Rev. Dale Church, pastor of the Smithland United Methodist Church, will officiate. Burial will be in Memorial Park Cemetery.
Mrs. Blackford, the former Elna Ione SMITH, was born 11 September 1911 in Charter Oak. She married 29 December 1944, in Elk Point, SD. Prior to her marriage, she had lived in Salix. The couple lived in Sioux City for several years and moved to Kenosha, Wis. in 1950. They later lived in Racine and moved to Smithland in the late 1960's. Mr. Blackford died 17 August 1974. Mrs. Blackford was a member of the Smithland United Methodist Church. She had written for the weekly news at Smithland for several years.
Survivors include a daughter, Dorothy AKER of Kenosha; a sister, Mrs. LaVada JOHNSON of Bella Vista, Ark.; 4 step sons, Robert BLACKFORD of Sioux City; Don BLACKFORD of Jonesboro, Ark.; Cecil BLACKFORD of Sylmar, Calif.; & Walt BLACKFORD of Sioux Falls, SD.; a step daughter, Mrs. Dee ADAMS of Coventry, R.I.; 19 grandchildren & 23 great grandchildren.
