Gertrude was the daughter of John Henry Belvin and Janie Mae Belvin and Mary Lue Belvin. She was educated in the Houston County School System. She was employed with the New Hope Nursing Home in Perry, Georgia for 22 years. She was a member of Oldfield Baptist Church in Perry, Georgia.

2 Sons: Lee Edward Belvin and Carlton Belvin.
1 Sister: Sophia Belvin Childs.
10 Grandchildren, 6 Great Grandchildren.
Services were held Thursday, January 26, 2006 at 1pm in the Sanctuary of Oldfield Baptist Church in Perry, Georgia with Dr. Stephen D. Summerow officiating.
