Thomas Micajah (Cager) Pickett, Jr. (b: 5 Mar 1862, Meadville, MS – d: 5 Feb 1937, Brude, Franklin Co, MS) married Hester Canzadia ("Sadie") Hunt on 21 Dec 1880 in Franklin Co, MS (Source: MS Marriage Records). Their children were: [1] Jesse Malissa (Melessa) Pickett (b: 7 Nov 1881, d: 20 Jun 1921); [2] Thomas (TOM) M. Pickett (b: 6 Jul 1886 – 5 Aug 1968); [3] William (BILL) Hunt Pickett (b: 21 Dec 1888 d: 18 Aug 1955, McCall Creek, Franklin Co, MS); [4] Dotson BENNETT Pickett (b: 25 Aug 1891-20 Dec 1957); [5] Bonnie (Zada) Pickett (b: Aug 1893); [6] Leonard Pickett (b: Dec 1897); [7] Tempy Pickett (b: Apr 1899); and [8] Hilton Rice Pickett (b: 21 Apr 1905 d: 8 Apr 1978, McComb, MS). After the death of his first wife, Hester C. ("Sadie") Hunt Pickett, on 9 Oct 1906, Thomas Micajah Pickett married Mary Louise Walker (b: 11 Mar 1884 d: 15 Nov 1908) on 4 Aug 1907 in Little Springs, Franklin Co, MS (Source: MS Marriage Records). Mary only lived a short time after their marriage, and Thomas Micajah (Cager) Pickett did not marry again.

The nickname "Cager" was passed down, starting with Thomas Micajah Pickett, Jr.'s great-grandfather, Micajah Pickett, Sr. (b: 25 Dec 1748 d: 23 Dec 1882). Micajah Pickett, Sr. (1748-1882) was in General Francis Marion's spy ring during the Revolutionary War.

THOMAS MICAJAH PICKETT, Jr.'s father, THOMAS MICAJAH (Cager) PICKETT, Sr. (b: ca. 1830, MS d: 22 Jul 1864, Atlanta, GA) had died in the Civil War at the Battle of Atlanta. MICAJAH PICKETT, Jr. (1862-1937) would later name a son BENNETT, after his grandfather, Eli D. BENNETT, who took care of him and his mother after the death of his father.

On the 1900 Franklin County, Mississippi, census record, THOMAS MICAJAH PICKETT (1862-1937) can be found as head of household #289, and he is listed as "Cager Pickett," age 38. Listed with him is his wife, Hester, and children: Thomas (Tom); William (Bill); Bennett; Zada (Bonnie); Leonard; and Tempy (not born when family photo was taken in 1898 to early 1899). NOTE: The other children had married and would not be listed on the 1900 census with "Cager" Pickett and his family. For example, Melesse Jessie Pickett (b: 7 Nov 1881 d: 20 Jun 1921, Franklin Co, MS) MARRIED James Hardie (Hardy) McGehee (b: 4 Sept 1876 d: 13 May 1952, Franklin Co, MS) on 29 November 1899 in Franklin Co, MS. Thus, Melesse J. Pickett is on the 1900 Franklin Co, MS census in the household of James Hardie (Hardy) McGehee.

On the 1910 Franklin County, Mississippi, census record, THOMAS MICAJAH PICKETT (1862-1937) is listed as head of household, family #273. He is listed as Thomas M. Pickett, Sr., age 48. There is no wife listed (both his wives had died prior to 1910). Listed in the household are: Dotson Bennett Pickett, Leonard Pickett, and Tempia (Tempy) Pickett. The other children had married by 1910.
