Carolyn Bechtle

MIDDLEPORT - Carolyn Jean Bechtle, 59, Middleport, passed away on Monday, Sept. 27, 2004, at Holzer Medical Center in Gallipolis.

She was born on Oct. 18, 1944, in Middleport, daughter of the late Clarence R. and Ruth M. Daniels Gilkey. She was a graduate of the Class of 1963 of Middleport High School.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her infant sister, Mary Ann Gilkey; her brother, Joseph R. Gilkey, Sr.; her father-in-law, John W. Bechtle; and her brother-in-law, Mike Powell.

Surviving are her husband, Darrell L. Bechtle, whom she married on Jan. 1, 1966; a son, John David Bechtle of Middleport; two brothers, Earl (Nancy) Gilkey of Pomeroy and Kenneth L. Gilkey of Columbus; three sisters, Kathy Powell of Middleport, Jane Ann (Jerry) Hawley of Pomeroy, and Judy Gilkey of Pomeroy; her mother-in-law, Euvetta Bechtle of Middleport; a sister-in-law and brother-in-law, Sarah and Russ Klontz of Lancaster; a brother-in-law, John A. (Ruby) Bechtle of Columbus; eight nieces, 10 nephews, five great nieces and four great nephews; several aunts, uncles and cousins; a special friend, Joe Custer of Pomeroy; and a very special pet and friend, Molly Jean Bechtle.

Services will be held at 1 p.m. on Thursday, Sept. 30, 2004, at Fisher Funeral Home in Middleport with Lamar O'Bryant officiating. Burial will follow at Gravel Hill Cemetery in Cheshire.

Friends may call from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. on Wednesday at the funeral home.

Bill Gilkey, Christopher Gilkey, Russ Klontz, Joseph Gilkey, Jr., Shaun Baker, David Hoffman, Bruce Swift and Scott Curl will be pallbearers.
