MIDDLEPORT - Ruth Marie Gilkey, 80, of Middleport died Jan. 7, 2004 at Holzer Medical Center in Gallipolis.
Born on Feb. 28, 1923 at Rockport, Ind., she was the daughter of the late Emmett and Flossie Daniels.
Besides her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Clarence Ray Gilkey, daughter Mary Ann Gilkey, son Joseph Ray Gilkey Sr. (1998), great grandson Clayton Powell, son-in-law Mike Powell, and brothers John Daniels and Jim Daniels.
She is survived by a son and daughter-in-law, Earl and Nancy Gilkey, a daughter and son-in-law, Jane and Jerry Gilkey, daughter Judy Gilkey of Pomeroy; son, Kenneth Gilkey, Columbus; daughter Kathy Powell, daughter and son-in-law, Carolyn and Darrell Bechtle of Middleport; and a special friend Joe Custer of Pomeroy.
Also surviving are grandsons, Joe, Bill, Steve, John and Ronnie Powell, John Bechtle, Christopher Gilkey, Joseph Jr. and James Gilkey; one granddaughter Sandi Gilkey, six great grandchildren and five step-grandchildren.
Other survivors are brothers and sisters-in-law, Bob and Fern Daniels of Middleport, Rusty and Bev Daniels of Grove City, Charlie and Joan Daniels of Kentucky; sisters, Sally Daniels of Ohio, Nina Eager and Ann Kellner of Columbus; brother Allen Daniels, Columbus; brother and sister-in-law Maggie and Bennie Rosa of Cleveland and sisters-in-law, Jean Daniels and Helen Daniels of Columbus.
Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. on Saturday Jan. 10, at Acree Funeral Home, 244 North Second Ave. Middleport, with the Rev. Lamar O'Bryant and Chris Stewart officiating.
Friends may call at the funeral home from 2 to 4 p.m. and 6 to 8 p.m. Friday.
