Letha Romney Swenson 1923 ~ 2005
Our beloved wife and mother, Letha Romney Swenson, passed away January 5, 2006, in Sandy, Utah, just two days shy of her 83rd birthday.
She was born January 7, 1923 in Colonia Dublan, Chihuahua, Mexico, a daughter of Orin Nelson and Alberta Farnsworth Romney.
She graduated Valedictorian from the Juarez Academy, and later graduated from BYU with a BA in Music.
She married David Whitmer Swenson on April 18, 1947 in the Salt Lake LDS Temple, they were married for 58 years.
Letha was an elementary school teacher in Southern California for 23 years.
She was a member of the LDS Church, and served as the ward organist most of her life. She also served as a Jr. Sunday School Teacher, and Primary Chorister. She enjoyed serving as a temple ordinance worker at the Provo Temple for 12 years. She and her husband David served an LDS Mission in Honduras for 18 months. Letha was a dedicated, faithful and loving daughter, wife, and mother, and she lived for and loved her family, her testimony, and her music.
She is survived by her husband David Swenson of Sandy; two daughters and two sons, Renee (Gary) Winkel of Apple Valley, CA; David W. (Amy) Swenson of Budd Lake, NJ; Darrel Jay (Annette) Swenson of Sandy, UT; and Jody Lynn (Michael) Anderson of Sandy, UT; 19 grandchildren and 15 great-grandchildren; two brothers and one sister, Carl (Penny) Romney, Alden (Marian) Romney, and Rinda (Kent) Bennion.
She was preceded in death by her parents, and by four sisters and four brothers.
Funeral services will be held Monday, January 9, 2006, at 11:00 a.m. in the Crescent 11th Ward, 89 East 11000 South, Sandy (one block East of State Street).
Friends may call at the Berg Mortuary of Provo, 185 East Center Street, Provo, Sunday evening, from 6-8 p.m., or Monday morning, at the Ward Chapel, from 9:30 - 10:45 a.m. prior to services.
Interment, Orem City Cemetery, 1500 North 800 East.
