Edith Marie Ames, 96, went to be with her Lord on Monday, Oct. 4, 2010, in Fort Worth. Funeral: 11:30 a.m. Friday in Greenwood Chapel. Interment: 2 p.m. Saturday in Rock Cemetery in Granite, Okla. Visitation: 6 to 8 p.m. Thursday at Greenwood Funeral Home. Edith was born Oct. 9, 1913, in Granite, Okla., to the late Cecil Ray Shaffenberg and Tillie Norris Shaffenberg. She married Hubert Ames of Weatherford on Nov. 11, 1930. They moved to Campbell, Calif., and lived there until moving to Fort Worth in 2005. She was preceded in death by three grandchildren, Catherine Mary Ames, Harold Dean Ames and Ronald Williams Ames; one great-grandson, Ronald William Ames Jr.; and one sister, Joann Headrick. Survivors: Son and daughter-in-law, Raymond and Louise Ames of Fort Worth; grandchildren, Michael Ames of San Jose, Tammy Lawrence of Eugene, Ore., and Norman Ames of Fort Worth; three great-grandchildren; sisters, Nellie Verhines of Weatherford, Okla., and Madge Wallis of Fort Worth; nephews, Donald Verhines of Hilltop and Michael R. Wallis and wife, Cathy, of Cedar Hill; and nieces, Carolyn Snavely of Moore and Candice Wiley and husband, Mike, of Weatherford.
