David Nelson Hughes, 37, of 260 N. Commerce Ave, Waynesboro, died Monday morning (Dec. 17) in Waynesboro Community Hospital.
He was born in Waynesboro on Sept. 4, 1953, a son of Nelson Goodwin and Frances Lowery Hughes of Stuarts Draft.
He was a member of Westwood Baptist Church and was a graduate of Waynesboro High School.
In addition to his parents, he is survived by two sons, David N. Hughes Jr. and Forrest Hughes, both of Churchville; two brothers, Stephen C. Hughes of Arlington and Joseph R. Hughes of Stuarts Draft; two sisters, Sharon Estes of Sherando and Amanda Dunning of Stuarts Draft; and a maternal grandmother, Mrs. Maude Lowery of Waynesboro.
A graveside service will be conducted at 10 a.m. Wednesday at Calvary United Methodist Church cemetery by the Rev. Jack Mallory.
The Waynesboro VFW Post 9339 will conduct military rites.
Pallbearers will be Bobby Cook, John Falls, Jack Fretwell, J. L. Thompson Jr., Herbert F. Hughes and Randolph F. Maupin.
Friends may call at the home of his parents on Va. 654 in Stuarts Draft.
The Stuarts Draft chapel of Etter Funeral Home is handling arrangements.
