STUARTS DRAFT Frances Lowery Hughes, 84, of Stuarts Draft passed away Friday, July 31, 2015, at Shenandoah Nursing Home.
Born Jan. 6, 1931, in Waynesboro, she was the daughter of the late Tom and Maude (Wrenn) Lowery.
Mrs. Hughes was a member of Ridgeview Baptist Church. She retired from the Waynesboro District Home, where she worked as personnel director. Frances was blessed with many creative talents and enjoyed painting, photography, cooking for friends and family, gardening, bird watching, playing board games, crocheting, and arts and crafts.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Nelson Goodwin Hughes; two sons, David Nelson Hughes and Joseph Randolph Hughes.
Survivors include her loving children Stephen Hughes and wife, Lynnette of Arlington, Sharon Estes of Stuarts Draft and Amanda Dunning and husband, George of Stuarts Draft; brother, Thomas Lowery of Waynesboro; grandchildren, David Hughes of Churchville, Forest Hughes, Amy and Alex Braden, Adam, Aaron, and Anna Hughes, Maria and Steve Bentley, Hannah Estes and Zack Fulk, Christopher Dunning and Justin and Jimi Kim Dunning; and three great-grandchildren.
A funeral service will be at 11 a.m. Tuesday, Aug. 4, 2015, at the Stuarts Draft Chapel of Reynolds Hamrick Funeral Homes, 1870 Stuarts Draft Highway, with Pastor Don McClure officiating. Burial will follow in Calvary United Methodist Church Cemetery.
The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service on Tuesday at the funeral home.
