Frederick Derr was born on October 12,1822 a son of John Derr (1775-1823)and Elizabeth Brim Derr(1781-1848)and was twice married, first to Elizabeth Dutrow Derr whom he married on March 24, 1844 and to Eliza Ann Creager Derr on November 26, 1862.

Frederick Derr, 39 year old husband of Eliza Creager Derr of Lewistown and the father of Four sons, David F. Derr, D. Henry Derr, Francis and James Derr and four daughters, Harriett Ann Minerva, Hannah R., and Laura Derr and Amanda Sophia Derr Quinn.

Frederick was a Union soldier killed in action during the Civil War at Kellys Ford, Virginia on December 10, 1863.

Frederick left his second wife a widow and his small children father less to serve his Country, a patriot and never returned hometown Lewistown.

Mother of children listed, sons, John (Jno) W. Derr , D. Henry Derr and Albert Josiah Derr and daughters, Hannah R. and Harriet Ann Minerva were children of Elizabeth Dutrow and Frederick Derr, the other children can be determined by their dates of birth as to whom their mother is.

His death record that states he  was transferred to  Company C from First Maryland Infantry along with his 18 year old son on Aug 18 1862 and that Frederick Died of Disease he contacted in the service on Dec 10, 1863 and his son John Wesley  Derr  died of wounds received in action  , 31 may  1865 in Gravel Run Virginia

Administrator was Daniel DERR with sureties as George ENGLEBRECHT and John M. EBBERTS. Guardian was Thomas L. McLEAN. Testimony was heard from Daniel DERR, a brother of Frederick DERR. Also testifyingfor the bank was Peter L. STORM. Trustee for the sale was Daniel DERR.
Sale was held on 11 Feb 1865, high bidder was: - Coleman LIGHTNER at $550.
Distribution: court costs, $189.07 (which included $6 for bringing the decedent's body to Frederick)
- Eliza Ann DERR, in lieu of dower, 1/7 or $51.56
- balance went to various creditors.
Closed 17 May 1865.
